A call to arms

Kalabiradari is an association of artists residing in the extended suburban area of Mumbai known as Mira Bhayandar. This area, having a population of half a million people, is richly peppered with people from the art fraternity.

But, surprisingly, there is not even a theater available in the entire area. Nor does there exist a library, a watering hole or a cafeteria where people from this field can come together and discuss the art world. This basically deprives the area of any art related activity.

Whatever activity happens, happens within the confines of one's own house and on a personal level. Almost all effort is personal and more often than not, even the exhibition of the effort is held at a far off place.

Thus not only people who are engaged in art related activities are deprived of a appreciative audience, but the local residents are affected too, almost like outcasts that have no engagement with the world of art.

Therefore, I appeal to all the members of Kalabiradari to come together and work towards correcting this problem

Kalabiradari (English Rendition)

We, the artists, engaged in our own medium, using our own thoughts, our own intellect to propagate our ideas to the people despite all the economic, social and political barriers that we face.

We are engaged in the attempt of fulfilling our dreams both big and small. In this metropolis, under the daily strain of its churn and stress. In this city where there is no body to listen to the problems that we face, because everyone is busy, including us.

We have become a part of this huge machine, whether we like it or not.

In the midst of all this, there is a thought, why not all of us get together, sometime or other and exchange our views, thoughts, joys and griefs.

And also attempt to transform the society that we live in with our enlightened thoughts, positive and affirmative action. Just not only for ourselves, but also for the generation that follows us.

This biradari is such an attempt, to join hands together and work towards a common purpose. If you feel that you can contribute to this thought, why don't you join hands and come together. Because coming together is a start and working together is progress.
